Anthracite Coat

My previous work, the fall coat in Harris tweed (Burda 08/2016, mod.116) was such a success with my friends and I loved the pattern and the coat so much – I was keen to make another one in a different fabric. I knew that those lapels would look fantastic in solid color and be the central detail of this elegant and sophisticated model. And it was high time for me to start a project for somebody else.

 Мне настолько понравилась модель пальто Burda 08/2016, mod.116, которую я сшила из харрис твида, и которое имело такой успех среди моих друзей, что мне не терпелось повторить модель в другом цвете и из другой ткани. Центральные детали пальто – шалевый воротник с имитацией заниженных лацканов – смотрелись бы совсем иначе, ярче в однотонной ткани, поэтому я с удовольствием взялась за новый вариант.

My friend, an artist and photographer, chose this beautiful coat wool from Paul&Joe in this interesting shade of grey. Depending on the light and the surrounding color palette, this color can vary and look either anthracite grey or dark navy blue. We chose stripy anthracite grey satin for the lining.

Второе пальто планировалось из более тяжелой пальтовой шерсти и оно предназначалось для подруги. Человек очень творческий, скульптор по образованию, а сегодня иллюстратор и фотограф, Юля остановила свой выбор на сложном темно-сером цвете. На фотографиях видно, что в зависимости от освещения и сочетания с другими цветами, цвет кажется антрацитовым серым или темно-синим. 

Like in case with my coat in Harris tweed, this coat is longer than the original model in the magazine. For my friend’s height of 174cm I added 15 cm in length when cutting the fabric. The final length of the coat is 10cm longer than the original. I used a 3m cut of main fabric and 2m of lining to make this coat.

Шерсть марки Paul&Joe, тяжелая и пластичная, немного напоминающая очень плотный трикотаж, подошла идеально для этой модели. На подклад мы взяли сатин в черную, серую и бордовую полоску. 

На рост моей подруги 1,74м я удлинила детали выкройки на 15 см, и в завершенном виде пальто длинней оригинальной модели на 10см. Шлевки пояса опущены на 5 см ниже – на выкройке они размещены прямо под рукавами. В однотонной ткани 38 размер удлиненной модели укладывается в 3 м ткани; деталь пояса сшивная.

Plaid Seersucker Skirt

When I was making this skirt I did not think it would deserve to be featured in a separate post. Just a simple skirt made out of two gathered panels of fabric on a belt and with two large pockets cut on bias… There would not be much to describe as this type of skirt does not require a pattern and can be finished in a couple of hours… However, it turned out to become my favorite go-to piece this summer, and even though we are officially in autumn now, I thought it is better late than never to share this little basic piece with you.

Эту юбку из клетчатого сирсакера я сшила еще в прошлом году, за пару дней до отпуска. И честно говоря, я не думала, что посвящу ей отдельный пост: это простейшая модель юбки собранной на талии, которая не требует выкройки, с макси-карманами выкроенными по косой. Однако юбка стала любимым предметом летнего гардероба, и хотя даже по европейскому календарю уже официально наступила осень, я все же поделюсь этой несложной и тем не менее интресной моделью.

My Blue Turquoise Summer Dress

Architectural lines, unusual cuts and dramatic volumes in clothing continue to inspire designers and fashionistas around the world this season. Details such as voluminous ruffles, extra panels and mismatching lengths bring that extra spark and modern edge to an outfit.  And for those who like sewing, this trend is an invitation to get creative with the fabric and the color.

This dress has double layer of skirts and the trompe l’oeil effect of an A-line apron skirt with a pencil skirt underneath it. The top part of the dress has a flattering open shoulder line and interesting cut-out back. 

Это платье в журнале (BurdaStyle 07/2015) сразу привлекло меня своими оригинальными идеями. Кажущийся эффект trompe l'oeil верхней юбки-фартука, скрывающей узкую юбку-карандаш, американская пройма и фигурная открытая спинка – при всем количестве деталей здесь явно было над чем задуматься при шитье, но результат обещал быть очень интересным.

Мое платье мне виделось в темном цвете, как в журнале. Но готовясь этой весной к отпуску в греческих Халкидики, я вспомнила об этом красивом габардине сложного цвета переливающегося Эгейского моря.

Chemise de Bûcheron, or New Plaids, Old Jeans

There is always a place for checkered fabrics in my heart and in my closet. It does not matter if it is a bold mix of bright colors, or a more timeless classic combination, I always find checks stylish and elegant.

К тканям в клетку я питаю особую слабость и мне всегда особенно трудно пройти мимо интересного клетчатого экземпляра. Есть в этих регулярных упорядоченных линиях рисунка дух свободы, невозмутимости и элегантного бунтарства.

Greek Coast, Embroidered Batiste

Today I wanted to show you the dress that I made last summer, but started to really enjoy it only this year during my summer vacation in Greece. White dresses, especially made of English Embroidery or stitched fabrics, are a great summer classic. They work well for the beach vacation or a long weekend in the countryside. With some smart styling, it can fit well for the summer in town. And besides, this year Broderie Anglaise made one of the season’s main trends.

My own Dior

This time around everything started with the photo of Natalie Portman on the cover of September issue of the French "ELLE". I liked the dress from Dior the actress was wearing so much -  I had to have it. While I was looking for an appropriate fabric, there appeared the fresh issue of the BurdaStyle magazine with a perfect pattern of a dress of the X-silhouette. The fabric -  excellent red wool with the right percentage of elasthane, fluid but with some body - was a timely find at the market of Fontainebleau.

The dress turned out quite versatile and goes well with many different accessories and for different occasions. 

На этот раз все началось с обложки французского ELLE с фотографией Натали Портман в платье от Dior. Меня не столько заинтересовали модные тенденции, освящаемые в журнале, и интервью с актрисой, сколько это красное платье (фото прилагается). И мне непременно хотелось иметь нечто похожее! Пока я подбирала ткань нужного мне оттенка красного цвета и выбирала модель, вышел ноябрьский номер Бурды с этой великолепной выкройкой. Я очень люблю X-силуэты, и уже не раз шила такие платья, поэтому выбор был очевиден. Ткань - костюмно-плательная шерсть с эластаном, достаточно плотная, но эластичная, хорошо укладывающаяся в складки и держащая форму.
